Laura always knew she wanted to tell stories, calling herself a “magnificent storyteller” when writing a poem about her career plans in French class at age nine.
Years later, with degrees in art and history and a background in journalism, she has lots of stories to tell. She’s lived and workd in Canada, Latvia and Hungary, written for print and web publications like TKTKTK, TKTK, TKKT and TK on arts, lifestyle, news, business and travel. She’s worked as a copy editor, editor and designer for print and online publications. She’s edited for Canadian, American, British and international English, so don’t be afraid to request your language needs. Her illustration work has been published internationally.
Her Latvian heritage took her to live and work in Latvia for several years, living in too many crumbling Art Nouveau buildings to keep track of and increasing her dill consumption tenfold. She has a master’s degree in history from Central European University in Budapest. She’s honed her skills in oral history through her master’s degree and work in journalism, although she’s been interviewing people and crafting their stories since discovering the “record” button on her childhood tape player.
Laura’s strengths are in organizing and distilling information to its key points, drawing connections and crafting readable stories. She is currently based in Halifax, Canada, but works anywhere, though she loves to work on local projects.
